The Day of Small Beginnings

Zech 4:10 (NLT)

"Do not despise the day of small beginnings for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin..."

My friend, Zach and I are tired. Tired of living plastic lives and eating plastic food. We are so tired of making a living instead of making a life worth living. So we are trusting the Lord to make a way for us to live the way He intended when He created us. And so, it begins!

The Beginning

I have 9 1/2 sprouts in my seed tray and a truly pitiful pile in my compost bin. A small beginning, indeed. Yet, the Lord rejoices that the work has begun because this is so much more than a homestead!

The Reason

The Lord has given me the dream of creating a place where people can come to know Him, be healed from their trauma and be discipled. He has been training me For this work while living in small, rental homes for the past six years and now it is time to expand. My friend, Zach, is like-minded. Like me, he tends to collect friends who are "birds with broken wings." Also, like me, he longs to see people set free and made whole.

So, we are feeling called to create a natural space, where we can live in log cabins that we have built. We want to eat only the food we grow, raise or hunt. We long to worship God surrounded by His creation. We deeply desire to participate in His work of restoration.

The Plan

To that end, we are looking for land and trusting the Lord to provide the funds. We will build small, "butt and pass" style log cabins from trees on the land. We will raise pigs, goats, guinea hens, chickens, ducks and turkeys. We will then take in whomever the Lord sends and help them get on their feet again.

The Journey

So we invite you to follow our journey! If you are further down the path than we are, feel free to give advice! We need all the advice we can get! If you're just starting out, walk with us and we'll share whatever we learn along the way.
